Cricket Pitch Services – What’s Involved?

Cricket loam is a natural product that needs to be operated with great care. Easily affected by weather during construction, uniform, cohesive loam layers are critical to a hard, healthy playing surface. Every cricket pitch is unique, so we carefully assess what is required and adapt our construction techniques and choice of materials to deliver a high performance pitch for all conditions.
The three main steps in natural cricket pitch construction are:

• Dig for pitch formation
  Subsoil is excavated and the formation accurately trimmed to a uniform depth. Not only is a poor, inconsistent bounce pitch surface, but uneven base formation and inconsistent depth within the first loam layer is the cause.
• Leveling and Consolidation
  Thorough consolidation removes air pockets, ensures a good bond between each layer and prevents root breaks. The loam layers are laser-leveled using a bespoke, highly manoeuvrable, lightweight tractor.
• Prepare the final surface and seed
  The final pitch surface is prepared, manure applied, grass seeded and finished with a hand rake finish.

Cricket protects the outfield

Tractors and dumpers are fitted with low ground pressure tires to reduce compactions in the outfield when handling machinery and materials. Boarding our transport route at the appropriate time.

Cricket Outfield Renovation

Renovation of cricket outfields can include aeration, topdressing and supervision to relieve compaction, improve drainage and remove wood and weak grass.
